Willie Kent, 1936-2006 |
Note: All photographs are produced during live performance. Artists are never asked to "pose," and are generally unaware when a photograph is taken. I am gratefull to have had the opportunity to start this project with Willie Kent & The Gents. His are the first set of project photographs, produced in November of 2005 at Blue Chicago on north Clark Street, as the pilot run. Regretably, he never got to see them, because of his untimely death on March 2, 2006, when he lost his battle with cancer. A complete set of prints were given to the family, as to what can only be a small token of appreciation to this artist. He was a down to earth blues guitarist and vocalist, who played Chicago's mainstage blues clubs and received the 1996 Handy Nomination - Blues Instrumentalist, Bass. Among his recordings are the recent "Blues and Trouble" (2004), "Comin' Alive!" (2001) and "Make Room for the Blues" (1998). You can also hear him on Lil Ed Williams Who's Been Talking (Earwig Records). - Christoph |
